IP privacy on blogs

Have you visited blogs that have a widget that shows the IP address and city of the latest visitors? What’s your take on this?

I think visitors should be warned beforehand that their IP address and city will be displayed publicly on the site. Whatever it takes-a popup-something to let the visitor know that before they enter the page that displays the information. What do you think?
